With variations and new passages by the Author of this work.

In honour of the most Illustrious and Excellent Lady,

the Duchess of Monte Lione.

Qvesto Passo e mezo si principier à stando le persone all'incontro senza pigliar mano, come si ha nel le Figure, con la Riuerenza graue incontro, & due Continenze: poi passeggiando insieme in ruota alla sinistra, faranno due Passi graue, & un Seguito ordinario, principiando col piè sinistro: poi seguiranno facendo un Passo graue col destro, & due Passi presti, uno col sinistro, et l'altro col destro, con un Trabuchetto graue col sinistro: calando il piè destro, che si trouarà alzato, faranno un Balzetto à piè pari alla destra.

To begin this passamezzo the people stand facing without taking hands, as in the figure, with the slow riverenza facing, and two continenze: then progressing together in a wheel to the left, they do two slow passi, and one seguito ordinario, beginning with the left foot: then following on they do a slow passo with the right, and two fast passi, one with the left, and the other with the right, with a slow trabuchetto with the left: lowering the right foot, which will be found raised, they will do a balzetto with even feet to the right.

Finito questo Passeggio, tornaranno à farlo di nuouo un'altra volta.

Having finished this passage, they will return to do it anew another time. 

Prima Mutanza dell'Huomo, & Passeggio della Dama.

First variation of the man, and passage of the lady.

Quando haueranno finiti li detti due primi Passeggi insieme, l'huomo principiarà la sua prima mutanza ponendo il pie sinistro alquanto in aria, & con esso farà la Riuerenza presta: poi col medesimo piede farà un Zoppetto in aria, & un Passo col destro à modo di gagliarda, & la Cadenza con l'istesso piede in dietro, facendo subito un Groppo alla sinistra, et due Riuerenze preste col sinistro poi seguirà con un Trabuchetto alla sinistra, & un Sottopiede alla destra, facendo Punta & calcagno prima con il destro, & poi col sinistro, con un Trabuchetto, & un Sottopiede alla sinistra, & la Riuerenza presta, con la Cadenza in Gagliarda col sinistro in dietro: poi farà un Zoppetto col sinistro in aria, & un Passo col destro innanzi in gagliarda, conchiudendo al tempo del suono con la Cadenza à piedi pari.

When they have finished that first passage together, the man will begin his own first variation placing the left foot somewhat in the air, and with that he will make the riverenza presta: then with the same foot he will do a zoppetto in the air, and a passo with the right in the style of the galliard, and the cadenza with the same foot behind, suddenly doing a groppo to the left, and two riverenze preste with the left then he will follow with a trabuchetto to the left, and a sottopiede to the right, doing a punta e calcagno first with the right, and then with the left, with a trabuchetto, and a sottopiede to the left, and the riverenza presta, with the galliard-cadenza with the left behind: then he will do a zoppetto with the left in the air, and a passo with the right in front in gagliarda, finishing in time with the music with the cadenza with even feet.

Nel tempo medesimo che l'Huomo farà detta prima mutanza, la Dama passeggiarà facendo due Passi graui & un Seguito ordinario al lato sinistro, principiandoli col piè sinistro: poi voltandosi alla destra, farà un Passo graue col destro, & due Passi presti, uno col sinistro, & l'altro con il destro: insieme con un Trabuchetto graue alla sinistra, et calando il piè destro, che terrà alzato, farà gratiosamente un Balzetto à piè pari alla destra.

At the same time as the man does that first variation, the lady will progress doing two slow passi and one seguito ordinario to the left side, beginning with the left foot: then turning herself to the right, she will do a slow passo with the right, and two fast passi, one with the left, and the other with the right: together with a slow trabuchetto to the left, and lowering the right foot, which she will hold raised, she will gracefully do a balzetto with even feet to the right.

Prima mutanza della Dama, & Passeggio dell'Huomo.

First variation of the lady, and passage of the man.

La Dama principiarà la sua prima mutanza, facendo due Seguiti spezzati fiancheggiati innanzi, & tre Trabuchetti graue, principiandoli col piè sinistro: poi il medesimo tornarà à far'un altra volta per contrario, auertendo di fare l'ultimo Trabuchetto à piedi pari.

The lady will begin her first variation, doing two seguiti spezzati flankingly forwards, and three slow trabuchetti, beginning with the left foot: then she will return to do the same another time on the other side, taking care to do the final trabuchetto with even feet.

L'huomo nel medesimo tempo che la Dama farà la sua mutanza, farà il seguente Passeggio; cioè, Prima farà due Passi graui, con un Seguito semidoppio, principiandoli col piè sinistro: poi voltandosi alla destra, farà un Passo presto col destro, & tre Fioretti volti alla sinistra, con la Cadenza in Gagliarda col piè destro indietro. Poi farà due Passi in Gagliarda, & la Cadenza à piedi pari, come à Pauaniglia.

At the same time as the lady does her variation, the man will do the following passage; that is, first he will do two slow passi, with a seguito semidoppio, beginning with the left foot: then turning to the right, he will do a fast passo with the right, and three fioretti turning to the left, with the galliard-cadenza with the right foot behind. Then he will do two galliard-passi, and the cadenza with even feet, as in the Pavaniglia.

Seconda mutanza dell'Huomo, & Passeggio della Dama.

Second variation of the man, and the passage of the lady.

L'huomo seguirà la seconda mutanza, facendo due Passi in Gagliarda, & una Cadenza pur'in Gagliarda, principiandoli col piè sinistro: poi farà un Balzetto à piedi pari alla sinistra, con un Groppo, & due Fioretti innanzi: farà poi tre Passi presti indietro, principiandoli con il destro, & due Riuerenze preste, & un Trabuchetto col sinistro: poi farà un'altro Trabuchetto con il destro, un Sottopiede pur col piè destro, due Fioretti à piedi pari principiandoli con il destro, & finirà detta Mutanze con una Cadenza in Gagliarda, & una Capriola in terzo, ò in quinto, à tempo del suono.

The man will follow with the second variation, doing two galliard-passi, and a cadenza also in gagliarda, beginning with the left foot: then he will do a balzetto with even feet to the left, with a groppo, and two fioretti forwards: he will then do three fast passi backwards, beginning with the right, and two fast riverenza, and one trabuchetto with the left: then he will do another trabuchetto with the right, one sottopiede also with the right foot, two fioretti à piedi pari beginning with the right, and he will finish this variation with a galliard-cadenza, and a capriola in three, or in five, in time with the music.

La Dama nella detta seconda mutanza farà il Passeggio medesimo, che harà fatto nella prima mutanza dell'huomo.

During the second variation the lady will do the same passage that she did during the man's first variation.

Seconda mutanza della Dama, & Passeggio dell'Huomo.

The second variation of the lady and the passage of the man.

Voltarà la Dama il fianco sinistro per dentro, facendo due Riprese, & un Trabuchetto con il sinistro, fermandouisi un poco: il medesimo farà anco per contrario, voltando il fianco destro per dentro: poi voltandosi alla sinistra, farà due Seguiti spezzati, principiandoli col sinistro, facendo un Trabuchetto alla sinistra, & calando il piè destro, che si trouarà leuato, farà un Balzetto à piè pari alla destra.

The lady will turn the left flank in, making two riprese and one trabuchetto with the left, stopping/restraining herself a little: she will do the same again to the other side, turning her right flank in: then turning around to the left, she will do two seguiti spezzati, beginning with the left, making a trabuchetto to the left, and lowering the right foot, which she will find raised, she will do a balzetto with even feet to the right.

L'Huomo in questo tempo medesimo farà l'istesso Passeggio, che harà fatto nella prim Mutanza della Dama.

At the same time the man will do the same passage that he did during the lady's first variation.

Terza mutanza dell'Huomo, & Passeggio della Dama.

Third variation of the man, and the passage of the lady.

L'Huomo farà una Puntata col piè sinistro, voltando il fianco sinistro innanzi, & due Fioretti, principiandoli col destro: dopò farà il medesimo in dietro per contrario, voltando due Passi graui, & principiandolicol sinistro, poi farà due altri Fioretti innanzi, & un Trabuchetto alla sinistra; & calando il destro farà un Balzetto à piedi pari alla destra.

The man will do a puntata with the left foot, turning the left flank in, and two fioretti, beginning with the right: then he will do the same backwards on the other foot, turning two slow passi, and beginning with left, then he will do another two fioretti forwards, and a trabuchetto to the left, and lowering the right he will do a balzetto with even feet to the right.

La Dama in questo tempo farà il sopradetto suo Passeggio.

During this time the lady will do her passage, as mentioned above.

Terza Mutanza della Dama, & Passeggio dell'Huomo.

Third variation of the lady, and the passage of the gentleman.

La Dama principiarà la sua terza Mutanza, con il far due Riprese alla sinistra, et due Trabuchetti, con due Seguiti spezzati fiancheggiati innanzi: poi farà due Passi volti alla sinistra, & un'altro Seguito spezzato, principiando ogni cosa col piè sinistro, & finirà detta mutanza con il fare tre Trabuchetti, quali anderanno principiati con il destro, & l'ultimo di essi finirassi à piè pari.

The lady will begin her third variation, with two riprese to the left, and two trabuchetti, with two seguiti spezzati flankingly forwards: then she will do two passi turning to the left, and another seguito spezzato, beginning each thing with the left foot, and to finish this variation she will do three trabuchetti, which she will do beginning with the right, and the last she will conclude with even feet.

L'huomo anch'esso nel detto tempo farà il suo Passeggio ordinario, come ha fatto di sopra nell'altre mutanze della Dame.

The man will do his ordinary Passage at this time, as he has done above in the other variations of the lady.

Faranno due Passi presti, & due Fioretti: poi seguiranno con due altri Passi presti, & due Fioretti, due altri Passi presti, et due Fioretti uolti alla sinistra: poi faranno un Trabuchetto alla sinistra, & calando il destro, faranno un Balzetto à piè pari alla destra.

The will do two fast passi, and two fioretti: then they will follow with another two quick passi, and two fioretti, another two quick passi, and two fioretti turning to the left: then they will do a trabuchetto to the right, and lowering the right, they will do a balzetto with even feet to the right.

Quarta Mutanza dell'Huomo, et Passeggio della Dama.

Fourth variation of the man, and the passage of the lady.

L'huomo farà due Sottopiede al sinistro, & due Riuerenze preste col piè destro, & un Trabuchetto: poi col medesimo piede farà un'altro Sottopiedi al destro, con due altre Riuerenze preste col destro, & un Trabuchetto alla destra, un Sottopiedi al sinistro, con due Fioretti innanzi, principiandoli col piè sinistro, & Punta e calcagno col destro & con il sinistro, & la Cadenza col sinistro in dietro, facendo due Passi in gagliarda, principiandoli col sinistro, & una Capriola, calandola à tempo del finire del suono.

The man will do two Sottopiede to the left, and two Riverenze preste with the right foot, and one Trabuchetto: then with the same foot he will do another Sottopiedi to the right, with another two Riverenza preste with the right, and one Trabuchetto to the right, one Sottipiedi to the left, with two Fioretti forwards, beginning with the left foot, and Toe and heel with the right and with the left, and the Cadenza with the left foot behind, doing two Passi in gagliarda, beginning with the left, and a Capriola, landing in time with the end of the [strain of] music.

La Dama farà il Passeggio che hauerà fatto nell'altre Mutanze dell'Huomo.

The Lady will do the Passage which she will have done in the other variations of the man.

Quarta Mutanza della Dama, et Passeggio dell'Huomo.

Fourth variation of the Lady, and the Passage of the Man.

Principierà la Dama questa Mutanza con il far due Trabuchetti presti, & due Seguiti spezzati innanzi, con due altri Trabuchetti presti poi volterà due altri Seguiti spezzati alla sinistra, facendo un Trabuchetto, & principiando ogni cosa col piè sinistro. Dopò ciò calorà il piè destro, & finirà la Mutanza con il fare un Balzetto à piedi pari alla destra.

The Lady to begin this variation will do two Trabuchetti presto, and two Seguiti spezzati forwards, with another two two Trabuchetti presti then she will turn two more Seguiti spezzati to the left, doing a Trabuchetto, and beginning each thing with the left foot. Then she will lower that right foot, and to finish the variation she will do a Balzetto with even feet to the right.

L'huomo in questo tempo farà il suo Passeggio ordinario.

In this time the Man will do his usual Passage.

Quinta Mutanza dell'Huomo, & Passeggio della Dama.

Fifth variation of the Man, and the Passage of the Lady.

Farà l huomo due Fioretti à piedi pari fiancheggiati con due Passi graui innanzi, & due Riuerenze preste, principiando ogni cosa al piè sinistro; poi col medesimo piede fingendo di voltare alla destra, non calando pero detto piede in terra, voltarà subito alla sinistra: poi calandolo, subito farà incontro alla Dama due Riuerenze preste con il piè destro, & due Trabuchetti, uno al destro, & l'altro al sinistro: dopò cio farà un Sottopiede al sinistro, con due Fioretti innanzi, & un Trabuchetto al sinistro: poi calando il destro, finirà la Mutanza con una Capriola in terzo, ò in quinto, come più gli tornarà commodo.

The man will do two Fioretti with even feet flankingly with two Passi gravi forwards, and two Riverenze preste, beginning each thing on the left foot; then with the same feet pretending to turn to the right, but not lowering that said foot to the ground, he will turn at once to the left: then lowering, at once he will do, facing the Lady, two Riverenze preste with the right foot, and two Trabuchetti, one to the right, and the other to the left: then he will do a Sottopiede to the left, with two Fioretti forwards, and one Trabuchetto to the left: then lowering the right, he will complete the variation with a Capriola in three, or in five, as many as he will return with comfort.

La Dama in questo tempo farà il suo solito Passeggio.

In this time the Lady will do her usual Passage.

Quinta Mutanza della Dama, & Passeggio dell'Huomo.

Fifth Mutanza of the Lady and the Passage of the Gemtleman.

Farà due Fioretti innanzi, & se non gli sapesse fare, farà due Passi, & due Trabuchetti graui con un Seguito spezzato, principiando col piè sinistro: poi voltandosi in prospettiua alla sinistra, farà una Riuerenza con il destro, & con l'istesso piede si voltarà alla destra, & finirà la Mutanza con due Seguiti spezzati, & tre Trabuchetti incontro al tempo del suono.

She will do two Fioretti forwards, and if she doesn’t know how to do those, she will do two Passi, and two Trabuchetti gravi with a Seguito Spezzato, beginning with the left foot: then turning in prospetiva to the left, she will do a RIverenza with the right, and with the same foot she will turn to the right, and will finish the Mutanza with two Seguiti Spezzati, and three Trabuchetto facing in time to the music.

L'Huomo nel detto tempo farà il solito suo Passeggio.

In this time the gentleman will do his usual Passage.

Sesta Mutanza dell'Huomo, & Passeggio della Dama.

Sixth Mutanza of the Gentleman and the Passage of the Lady.

Principiarà questo Mutanza l'Huomo, facendo due Seguiti trangati in aria semidoppi alla sinistra, & altri due alla destra, con quattro Fioretti, due innanzi, & due Fiancheggiati indietro à piedi pari: poi farà tre Capriole, ouero un Trabuchetto alla sinistra, calando subito il destro, & facendo un Balzetto à piè pari alla destra.

The man will begin this Mutanza, doing two Seguiti trangati in aria semidoppi to the left, and another two to the right, with four fioretti, two forwards, and two flankingly backwards with even feet: then he will do three Caprioles, (overo – that is?) a Trabuchetto to the left, immediatley lowering the right, and doing a Balzetto with even feet to the right.

La Dama farà in detto tempo il suo solito Passeggio.

In this time the Lady will do her usual passage.

Sesta Mutanza della Dama, & Passeggio dell'Huomo.

Sixth Mutanza of the Lady, and Passage of the Gentleman.

Nella farà una Puntata innanzi col piè sinistro, & due Fioretti, principiandoli col destro; & dopò ciò farà tre Trabuchetti graui, principiandoli col destro: poi farà due Seguiti spezzati, voltandosi alla sinistra con un Trabuchetto all'incontro, & calando subito il piè destro in terra, finirà la mutanza con un Balzetto à piè pari alla destra.

She will do a Puntata forwards with the left foot, and two fioretti, beginning with the right; and then she will do three trabuchetti gravi, beginning with the right: then she will do two Seguiti spezzati turning to the left with a Trabuchetto facing, and lowering immediately the right foot to the ground, she will finish the mutanza with a Balzetto with even feet to the right.

L'Huomo in questo tempo farà il suo Passeggio ordinario.

The gentleman in this time will do his usual passage.

Secondo Passeggio fatto in ruota insieme.

Second passage done together in a wheel.

L'Huomo farà due Fioretti, & due Capriole spezzate, poi seguirà facendo di nuouo altri due Fioretti, & altre due Capriole, poi farà due Riuerenze preste col sinistro, & un Trabuchetto presto, & un Sottopiede al destro, con un Fioretto & un Trabuchetto alla sinistra, & una Capriola in terza, ò in quinta.

The man will do two fioretti, and two capriole spezzate, then he will follow that with another two fioretti, and another two capriole, then he will do a riverenze preste with the left, and a trabuchetto presto, and a sottopiede to the right, and a fioretto and a trabuchetto to the left, and a Capriola in terza, or in quinta.

La Dama nell'istesso tempo farà due Fioretti, & due Trabuchetti: poi altri due Fioretti, & altri due Trabuchetti con quattro Fioretti, due in ruota, & due volti alla sinistra: poi farà all'incontro un Trabuchetto alla sinistra, & calando il piè destro in terra, farà un Balzetto à piedi pari alla destra. Dopò ciò nell'ultimo tempo della Sonata, finiranno il Passo e mezo, con il far' insieme due Continenze graui, & la Riverenza.

At the same time the Lady will do two fioretti, and two trabuchetti: then another two fioretti, and another two Trabuchetti with four fioretti, two in ruota, and two turning to the left: then she will do facing a Trabuchetto to the left, and lowering the right foot to the ground, she will do a Balzetto with even feet to the right. The in the final tempo of the music they will complete the Passo e Mezo, doing two continenze grave, and the Riverenza.
