Context:

The Canton of Castelburn participated in Dunedin's Winter Festival of Lights.

Jonathon arranged a concert of early music on Friday evening, where we performed several pieces. The following day there were a series of classes open to the public (inluding a class on French Basse danse). In the evening we joined the procession around the Octagon, carrying lanterns and singing Gregorian chant, before retiring to a private feast. On the Sunday I ran private dance classes for the members of Castelburn.

It was a great event, and I was honoured to perform alongside such fine musicians.

Dances:

Katherine, Patrick and Alex performed Caterva, an Italian bassadanza reconstructed by Patrick. We were lucky enough to have live music from some excellent early musicians, who played the piece Patrick composed on the tenor Il Ferrarese for this dance.

Katherine and Alex performed a portion of Adam de la Halle's play Le jeu de Robin et de Marion. Katherine had translated and adapted it, and Alex edited the music.

The three of us also sang Dunstable's Quam pulchra es, and joined in singing Dowland's Now, O now, I needs must part.
