Bassa Toscana

Balleto by M. Battistino

In honour of the most illustrious lady, Lady Panta Crescenza Patritii, Gentlewoman of Rome.

The man will take the ordinary hand of the woman, and - facing somewhat - they will do the riverenza, with two continenze. Then releasing [hands], they will do two passi gravi [slow steps] and seguito ordinario turning to the left, beginning with the left; and they do the same on the other side. Then they will take hands, and they will do two Continenze gravi [slow continenze]; and then the man releases the right hand of the lady, and they do the Riverenza together.

SECOND PART

Progressing [forwards] they will do two Puntate, and two Seguiti, and releasing hands they will do two slow Passi, and a Seguito ordinario turning to the left, beginning with the left. They will do the same on the other side, turning to the right. Then taking both hands, they will do two Continenze; and releasing, they will retreat with two slow Passi flankingly backwards, and they will do the Riverenza facing.

THIRD PART

The man alone will do two Puntate forwards, with two slow Riprese to the left, and three Trabucchetti, in place of which Trabuchetti he can do one Passi to the left with the left foot, and the Riverenza with the right, as in the Barriera [the dance called Barriera].  He will return to do the same another time, beginning on the other side. Then together they will do two Seguiti turning to the left, and finding themselves facing and meeting at the end of this, they will touch hands, and they will do two slow Passi backwards, and the Riverenza.

FOURTH PART

The woman will do the same mutanza that the man did; then they will do the same actions together, as above.

FIFTH PART

Together they will do two Puntate forwards, and two Seguiti flankingly beginning with the left. Then, taking hands, they will do two Continenze and the Riverenza, and releasing hands they will turn around with two Seguiti to the left. At the end of this they will find themselves facing, and they will touch hands once again. Then releasing [hands] they will retreat, and they will do two slow Passi backwards, and the Riverenza.

THE SCIOLTA

They will do four fast Riprese to the left, then three Trabuchetti; and they will do th same to the right, on the other side. Then they will do two Passi trangati backwards, as in the Barriera, and one Seguito forwards, beginning with the left foot and touching hands. They will do the same on the other side. Then turning to the left they will do two Seguiti and the man will take the woman's ordinary hand, and they will finish the dance by doing together two slow Passi backwards and the Riverenza.
