Just William and I tonight, and neither of us was feeling great.
We brushed up a few old favourites, then worked on the Passamezzo.
We learned the second and third passages done together in the Il Ballarino Passamezzo, and revised the woman's first three mutanze. Then we performed the whole dance, as written, save that we both used only the first three mutanze for the woman (once each before and once each after the passage together in the middle).
It was really good to get to dance through the whole choreography, as a couple (as it's written). There's a lot of subtle adjustment to get the shape of passeggio and mutanze working well together, and lots of room for subtle and constantly-changing interaction: the curved shape of the passeggio combined with the zig-zag of most mutanze creates lots of brief moments of movement together, then apart, meeting, following, separating, etc.
This one is going to be more and more fun, as we work it into out feet, and can play with the interaction!
