Open class (8 dancers)

  • Black Almain
  • Anello
  • 15thC Italian technique
  • Rostiboli Gioioso
  • Rufty Tufty
  • Maltese branle
  • Pinagay
  • Scots branle

15thC technique : we practiced ombreggiare (slow rise, rapid fall, on each step) and ondeggiare (shoulder shading): first in place, one foot slightly in front of each other, then with singles and doubles / sempii and doppii.

Finally, we practiced the remaining steps often used in bassadanza: riprese, continenze, mezavolta, voltatonda (both the volta del Gioioso and voltatonda using a doppio). We didn't practice riverentia, as we've done that quite a bit in other recent classes.

Advanced class (6 dancers)

We made a start on the passamezzo:

  • woman's passeggio - Caroso, Ballarino
  • woman's passegio - Lupi
  • man's passegio - Caroso, Ballarino
  • woman's first and second mutanza - Caroso, Ballarino
  • final passegio together - Caroso, Ballarino

So far so good. The basic passeggio, used by both Lupi and Caroso (though not in all the same places) is very attainable, as are the simpler women's mutanze. We'll work up to the  more complex mutanze.
