Kit the Knave - site logo

Kit the Knave, the site logo, started life as a woodblock I carved as part of a project to print 16th-century style playing cards.

Caterine and I printed some dozens of decks of cards before we were distracted by other projects. She carved the Queen, I carved the King and the Knave, and we each carved two suits of spot-cards. We had every intention to make four distinct Kings, Queens and Knaves, but we never got there.

The knave is the design I was most pleased with, and he was intended to represent me, dancing as "Kit" in my favourite 16th-century male clothes, so he seemed a fitting logo for my dance website.
