Returning after a long absence

I've done relatively little dancing and teaching since 2020, and have neglected this website even more.

But it's time to return! I'm back (gently) to dancing, teaching, research, and updating this site. Right now, my primary interests are:

  • 15th C Italian balli for three - performance, style, gender, MS differences
  • published dance music from France and the Netherlands, mid-late 16thC - especially Attaingnant and Phalese

Since 2020 a lot of my attention has gone to 15th and 16th century instrumental and vocal music, notation, and improvisational practices - and I've learned a lot that I want to apply to dance. So it's not been a break exactly, just an extended diversion of focus.

I'm easing slowly back into teaching, so if you're interested in classes or one-off workshops (and you live in Australasia) please do get in touch - "katherine dot may dot davies at gmail" will do the trick. If you're not in Australasia, I'd still welcome an email (I don't use social media).

Here's to more dancing!
